Hamish & Andy – FoxFM Drive Time

hamishandandy2Nationwide at 4pm weekdays, radios are fixed to FoxFM, and for good reason. Two lads from humble beginnings are starting another two hour program of hilarity and madness. Hamish and Andy are now pulling in over one million listeners each weekday, which is killing the competition who keep shifting stars to try and find a recipe for success. They wont find it, because the way these boys do their show is pure gold. From start to finish its funny, fresh and does those skits and jokes that only these two make funny. You need that spark between two people to pull all that off. There is the wild and quick witted Hamish, who has a distinctive voice and can think of a return one liner in the blink of an eye. Then there is Andy who is often a little more reserved but only to settle the wild Hamish, and plays the role of boss of the show. The two have their positions, and without the other, I can imagine it just wouldn't work.

Without so much as a year under their belt on radio they tackled television, it failed, but not due to its content, it was just not the kind of humour people were looking for over five years ago. Their show has since gained huge ratings on radio and now as a regulars on Rove (Sundays on Ten), they are crawling their way back to the tube device. Their humour is often above most people, you need to look hard to see the laughs in everything they say. Even when they talk about their lives away from radio, you know there is truth in what they say, which is uncommon for radio hosts, you often get the impression people make things up to get laughs.

Now on their trip across America for their Caravan of Courage 3, they seem to dominate the ratings again even when they are on the other side of the world. I get the sense with ratings like that, they could simply ask for anything and watch the station come running. Funniest show on radio bar none.
