Keeping it new
You've seen it at George from Seinfelds parents house, the un-mistakeable plastic covering on the couch. This sums up a form of obsessive behaviour that extends way beyond the couch. Have you seen those who leave the plastic screen cover on their phone until it finally dog ears its way off, or those who put seat covers on their car seats, so they are always going to look new. Whats the point in owning things and not fully enjoying them?
I have written about those who use car bra's before and I still dont condone them, but there are other types of obsessive freaks out there. Some keep their mobile phones in a leather pouch while others park their car as far from others as possible. It seems we want new things, but want them to stay that way for good. There is a point at which you overprotect things and lose the joy of using them. I admit, I protect some things I own, my phone screen and my laptop. But I can admit that their use is not limited by doing that. The phone has a proper screen guard and the laptop is transported in a tough case. Get over it, I dont have a car bra, nor a couch with plastic.
