Females vs Males in advertising
The other day, a radio advertisement caught my attention, it was for Coles/Woolworths Pre-Paid Mobile sim cards. The product wasn't the problem, the script was. It followed the dilemma of a man who needed a new sim card, his wife suggested for him to get the one mentioned above, he said "oh that's easy!" to which she replied "I wish it was that easy to get you to mow the lawn".
To any man or woman out there that is no problem. And as with them, it is of no concern to me either, my beef is with the opposing script that would cause ruffles. Imagine the roles were reversed and the man said to his wife "I wish it was that easy to get you to wash the dishes" or perhaps "I wish it was that easy to get you to vacuum the floors". There would be an almighty outcry that it is degrading to women to say she needs to do olden days house chores. Which is really immature, because the ad is a joke and to be honest, probably a realistic impression of what still happens today. The man does the tough jobs, the women does the lighter jobs. I'm just stating the way it is.
Women are quick to jump down the throats of the censorship board complaining when they are outraged over a simple advertising gimmick. Do you see men caring about the AMI ads lowering the credibility of men's sexual performance? Never. We don't care, we get on with our lives! How about leaving the ads for those who enjoy them, and getting on with your day jobs.
