Grand Final – gone for another year

MCG - Grand Final Day Action
That last Saturday in September has come and gone leaving us with a hangover and the defeat of StKilda at the hands of Geelong. Another all Victorian grand final had the traditionalists happy and the Saints fans hoping they could break their 40+ year drought of premiership wins. But they lost, and in the usual controversy of any good final. There were double goals due to arguments with the goal umpire, a goal that hit the post but was payed a goal.
Then they let off the huge quantity of streamers to rain down on the winners at the podium. Now we will endure the next two weeks of reports and analysis of the game from all the couch critics. I guess I can include myself in that as I am currently on a bed writing about the very same topic.
It was a successful year after all, there were teams that rose to the challenge of beating reigning champions Hawthorn (and there were a lot that did that), there was Melbourne's classic run for last place, and even Essendon creeping into the finals.

Chris Judd plays on despite a broken nose
One of my highlights of 2009, would have to be watching Chris Judd break his nose, I'm not glad he did, its the courage of getting back out there that was the amazing part. He was tapped up, still bleeding and got back to playing. I swear he must of lost a few hundred mills of blood that day.
Anyhow, that's season 2009, for those die hard fans out there, its only a handful of months until we do it all again.
