Surf Lifesavers – Heroes of the Beach
When you venture out into one of Australia's many popular beaches, there is a group of dedicated professionals ready to save your life at a moments notice, you may not even know your in trouble before they will. These are the often unsung heroes of Australia.
You only need to watch a show like Surf Patrol to get an understanding into their tireless work in rescuing those in need at our beaches. What people forget about these people is just how many lives they save. People honor those who go out of their way to rescue someone in need, say in a house fire etc. And I am not taking away their heroism, but they do it once, and yet these lifesavers do it everyday. So because they do this as their job does it make it less of a reason to hold them high in our thoughts. Its unfair that their only national recogniton is a television show featuring a select few on Sydneys glamarous beaches.
Next time your down at the your local sandpit, take a look around and notice the lifesavers, dont distract them with thank you's as this will only distract them from watching the water, instead just observe the yellow flags and their rules and obeservations. Maybe drop them a donation at the Westpac Bank. They may save your life one day,
