Hungary Jacks & Burger King

180px-OldBurgerKingLogoIf you have ever been in both the domestic and international food lounges in Melbourne Airport, then you would have surely noticed the two fast food chains with effectively the same products. I'm talking of none other than the Hungary Jacks and Burger King, one is the Australian version of its North American parent company.

imagesI do understand why they change various parts of company identity when it enters a new market, movies change titles and soundtracks and even plot lines when they enter it to a new demographic. And so I have no problem with BK changing to HJ in Australia. But having to change it back for the international tourists to feel at home in our country? Well that's just odd. If the Americans cannot see the similarities between the two identities then they should just drink water and go hungry. Because the stores look virtually the same, and the menus are copied as well. That's what a holiday is all about, changing environment and experiencing new things. But of all the things to change to make people feel comfortable why would you change Hungary Jacks? Oh what a second, we changed it for the fattest, fast food obsessed Americans, now it makes sense. Their low intelligence would have them in a fit if they couldn't get a fix of their favourite fats and oils.
