SPAM – The World’s Most Horrible ”Ham”

Spam was invented in 1937 and has always been a hot topic about whether its meat was actually from the pig they claimed from the beginning. Well the good news is that its from a pig and generally chopped shoulder meat with added ham for flavouring. It also contains water, salt, sugar and sodium nitrate to keep the colour.

With all that in mind, why would you eat it? Not even if you needed meat on a bush 4wd trek. You don't see Malcolm Douglas eating spam on his adventures. Its breaks all the rules of what I would consider normal eating. The idea of getting my meat from a can is a concern.

When you see the gelatin that forms around the can that's the first sign you should throw it away. Then the shape of the spam is the shape of the can, what animal has a muscle the shape of a oval can? There are even 12 flavours which still don't make it any better to swallow. It was even listed as a food of dangerous levels for those trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy diet, due to it's levels of salt and saturated fat.

Spam also sold it's seven billionth can in 2007, of those seven billion cans I wonder how many people are still alive? I have tried it once and survived to write this blog to alert the rest of you.
