Curing – lets get behind the weirdest sport

If someone was to tell you that a slab of granite with a handle stuck to it, a few guys with brooms and a long ice hallway with a few circles at the end was all part of a winter sport, would you believe them? Well it would take a fair imagination to figure out how it all comes together, but it does and it makes sense.

The sport has been compared to chess and baseball, go figure? But it involves a slider player carefully sliding a polished granite rock down the ice with the two sweepers helping it to slow or stay fast, to guide it to the centre of the 'house' which is a target at the other end of the ice. People take this sport as seriously as you would imagine a pro-footballer playing out a million dollar contract would.

If you want to get into Curling, watch it at the current Winter Games, or check out the movie 'Broom Men'. I give the thumbs up for this sport, mainly because it's entertaining to watch the sweepers and all the yelling.
