Flashbacks Bug Me

home-and-awayMany things about television bug me, one that really causes migraines is the repetitive flashbacks at the start of shows and returning from ad breaks. Neighbours and Home and Away are notorious for having flashbacks at the start of their shows. They recap key story lines from the night before and several others from the recent week, which is beyond me why they bother as the stories are either dull and thoughtless or the viewers are keen followers and don't need reminding of what has happened. It consumes a few minutes of each show, allowing for less of  story lines each night. In the end after adbreaks, opening and closing sequences and the flashbacks, you have probably a matter of 13 minutes of your show instead of the 30 minute advertised allotment.

The other form of annoyance comes from shows like The Biggest Loser, which will leave for an adbreak with a 'cliffhanger' and then return from the break and repeat the last 20 seconds or so of the show from before the break. Just in case you forgot the suspense over the two minute ad break. They manage to repeat the show several times per episode, I don't watch the show mainly due to their repeating antics.
