Superbowl 2012

The spectacle that is the Superbowl is done and dusted for another year. I caught portions of it and intend on watching in full later tonight.
If there is an event to be held and done to the extreme of all avenues of the term entertainment, then the Americans achieve it with the Superbowl.
The Sunday night prime time, multi-million dollar ads and the half time show define the big event. It's possibly the only ads people look forward too. If you search in google for Superbowl, it will suggest Superbowl ads. That shows you just how powerful this event has become.
The half time show is long enough to allow for a stage to be put out in the centre for a huge light, song and dance show. Meanwhile the players could just about head out for lunch they have so much time to waste.
In Australia we simply cannot match their showcase as we play our grand final during the day, robbing us of fireworks and light shows. And we also lack a lengthy half time, so generally there is just enough time for a little league game.
Next to Olympic opening ceremonies, there is no bigger show centered around a sporting event and keep in mind the Superbowl is one game and not a series of different events over several weeks.

People can be thick

In my daily activities I come across people that defy logic with how they have survived to the age they are with the intelligence they lack. You can only assume society has watered down life so much that even animals might be able to claim the dole.
I was talking to a man today who understood English enough to run his own business and yet needed me to explain something to him four times and even then I don't think he got it.
If Oprah doesn't have a segment about it or 'Today Tonight' hasn't put it into its weekly cycle of repeated articles then these people wont learn about it.
These are the same very people who vote in governments because of a $200 bonus they will get, without the understanding that same government has three years to make a small tax change to get it back. Think long term that's all I ask of you. Don't wonder why you can't afford to fix the broken fridge when you never put $10 a week away in a slush fund to pay for emergencies such as those. Because believe me, these dramas keep on coming, it's commonly known as 'life'.
Learn to listen to what is being said so you might not need to ask for a fourth repeat of a simple 10 word sentence.

Spin Doctors

When you need to put a spin on a story, it's best to never have told the story before applying the spin. Therefore people can't reference the truth from the spin as easy as they can if they have heard the original. That is why I find the recent Carbon Tax talk so humourous. Not only did our pathetic excuse for a Prime Minister say she was not going to introduce a carbon tax at the last election, but she has also changed its advertising to make it seem more friendly. First it was a tax now it is a price. Does that mean we don't pay GST (General Services Tax)? Instead we pay a GSP (General Services Price). Then they call the 100 companies involved 'our countries biggest polluters', who on earth measured that? Did they follow them around for a year with a carbon capture device to analyse the output or was it simply a guess? It's also being peddled as the Clean Energy Future initiative, because it is intended to create a push for 'cleaner' energy ideas. The same ideas that often cost a horrible amount of money, like our Desalination plant to provide the water we don't need and consume the power we don't have spare. Then there is the age-old rule of thumb, if a company is taxed more, then they pass it on to the consumer. So the government has also looked at that too, claiming they have calculated the cost increases we will face and pumping the money back to us. But they forget that if I am taxed $10 and this affects my business, then I will make sure I charge enough to get my $10 back, so I can maintain the same income. So how does the government expect that industry wont do the same? They think they can pay the people some money to assist in the living cost increase and still have some tax money left over for green power ideas. It will become another massive fuck up on the account of a Labor government. The Greens are causing this, once again showing how little they know about money. Pathetic bunch of vegetarian, homosexual, PBR radio listening morons they are.

A world without the Greens is a better one. We want to advance the human race, not dwindle as prehistoric tree hugging pacifists.
