They say music changed their life…
Have you ever heard someone say that a song has changed their life? Punch them for me.
I cannot comprehend how a song, album or an artist could change someones life. It would only change the lives of the weak and soul searching freaks of society that would be swayed by a cloud that spelt "jump". Music is a great ingredient of everyday life but it cannot be held so high in importance that you could link it to a life changing moment.
On Triple M radio at the moment they have a segment called "Rock albums that have changed your life", are you serious? A rock album or any other genre for that matter would never change my life! How would my life be expected to change once I have listened to it? Might I do the dishes after dinner or drive my car more responsibly?
These people who attribute a change of life direction to an album are a danger to society. They could be pigeon holed to a particular type of person. One who would vote Greens, probably a vegetarian, drives a European car if not a hybrid (budget dependent) and would believe that the ever growing illegal music market deprives the artists of their gross over payed income. I understand artists need their money but charging over $20 for an album with no more than 11 songs as is the norm these days is highway robbery. Even iTunes charges more than you would think considering there are no cd's burned, covers printed, cases made, transport and sales staff to worry about. iTunes just charge what they do because it's convenient. Anyhow I'm off topic.
Musical artists are not to be worshiped or idolised because they are a strange lot. They speak of their lyrics like they would change the world and speak of songs that missed the album because 'they simply wouldn't work with the other songs'. But how many times have you listened to an album and thought what is that song doing on there?
Music has not or never will change my life.
Lady Gaga – Gaga I am not
Someone brought up a good point to me the other day, they highlighted the type of fans that Lady Gaga has. The degenerates, misguided and oddly opinionated people are drawn to the garbage bag clad freak show that is Lady Gaga. This was evident last week as she visited Australia for the first time and her 'monsters' (as the fans are known to her) came out wearing her trademark style of 'clothing'. This trademark is usually constructed from your neighbours recycling bin or using the fabric of your grandpa's couch and then apply glue add sequins and you have yourself a very strange one off train wreck outfit.
Lady Gaga is a marketing genius and has proven that the world lusted for a different artist with flair that was in a different direction from the others. I give her credit for her rise to fame on the back of some clever songs, carefully crafted image and a genuine reach out to fans. But its these fans that cause me the most concern. They attach themselves to someone who stands for the odd, the quiet and the lame. Lady Gaga wears clothes (if I can call them that) that no one else can wear, she can get away with it because she is famous and its her image. But when you see someone walking through the street in the same bazaar clothes, you cant help but think, did they get mugged of their clothes and have to rummage through a bin to get what they could?
Lady Gaga is making millions off the lonely hearted space cadets that are the youth of today. Heaven forbid these same fans ever run the country. Wait a second... I believe there is a party that accepts those oddities with open arms...
The Greens Party
I can live with our diversified community most of the time. There are groups that give me reason to feel ashamed that I share common dirt. One of those groups is people who vote for the greens (with sincerest apologies to a dear friend whom has lost his voting ways). Green voters are amongst the global list of mistakes, such as any preparation for the Y2K bug, Ab sculptors and Tamagochi's.
The thing that causes me the most pain is why did they vote for the greens? Is it because it was a protest vote and you didn't like the other parties? Would you eat dog shit if it meant not having to cut an arm off or would you simply walk away? Because voting is mandatory but you only need to show up and cross your name off the list.
You must understand that even know the Greens are an alternative party that strive to keep important agendas on track, they are not out there for the greater good of the country. They have such wayward values that are not in line with current importance such as gay marriage and euthanasia. Will these two issues fix petrol prices, mortgage rate stabilization or public transport shambles? No they will not. They have some views that could benefit our population like the abolishment of ATM fees, but instead of jumping on that policy they push for their left field choices.
I really think that marriage is not a vital policy in need of chewing up processes. At the end of the year when our trains are still late, your bank account is empty and your smart meter is smarter than your kids because they have no school books, will you then think "hey! Voting for the Greens was an invested choice!". I would sure hope not.
Bob Brown the all mighty wayward leader of the aforementioned boffins, is now an arrogant imbecile with an agenda far from what Australians want or need. The Greens have always protested against fuel reduction burning in our state and look what happened on Black Saturday? The undergrowth and mis-managed forests went up in flames killing more than 170 people. The Greens went awfully quiet around this time, there was a party hush-hush period. Bob Brown is one of those Greens who is partly responsible for the destruction of homes and lives on that day. Their heavy-handed policies are weighing down on the lives of Victorians.
Now this party of degenerates has control of the senate, which spells a very ugly time for Australians as we wait to see what power struggles they win. Will be have to replant our CBD's with native fauna and pull down our skyscrapers? Will their gay marriage law get passed? Euthanasia become legal? All the pointless exercises that we don't need right now, how about pushing through some decent normal everyday policies? Ones that will help the everyday Australian, rather than letting some fringe activists get their way.
The Greens got a bigger vote because people wanted to teach the two major parties a 'lesson'. What a stupid idea that was. It doesn't teach them a lesson, it simply screws the country to the wall. We are now at the mercy of their power in the senate. Well done 'protest voters' you have set Australia back a few years, at a time when progress is our only means of getting out of debt.
The Greens have read the newspapers portraying the English media giant Murdoch as a man who must be driven out of England due to the scandal around the phone tapping from News of the World. So what is their latest idea? Have an investigation into the Australian media for similar illegal practices. With what proof does Bob Brown have to establish another task force to tackle yet another white unicorn? We don't have the time nor the money to waste on pissing in the wind ideas like this right now. We should be focusing on other important national interests. One of Mr. Browns fears lies in the pages of The Australian newspaper, which is owned by the Murdoch group. He claims they are pushing for an early election. So am I! So shut me down too Mr. Brown. Australians everywhere are looking forward to the next election because we don't want The Greens nor Julia Gillard as leaders of this country.
The Senate is awash with single-minded, gay loving, tree hugging morons who were voted in by the blind mis-judgement of the people who voted last year. Shame on Australian voters for letting the Greens gain this kind of power. And an even bigger shame on the Greens for using the power like a school yard bully who witnessed the Principal screwing the secretary.
