Ah yes, another post predicated on ill-informed opinion with no referenced sources that reflects the backward nature of middle Australia.

Rather then questioning why voters would register a protest vote or choose simply to vote for a minority party, such as the Greens, you instead offer the stupid alternative that one should waste their vote. No where in your piece do you address the major problem confronting Australian politics and our two major parties.

The Labour and Liberal parties have failed in recent years to establish strong policies and to differentiate themselves from one another. Instead policy has become based on polling and this is particularly true of Labor, a party that axed a Prime Minister because of poor polls. Labor veteran John Faulkner has been particularly vocal concerning the ‘anaemic policies’ of his own party and those of the Liberals. Why focus on this though when you can bash the Greens.

The Greens have however offered a consistent range of policies since the party’s establishment in 1992. 1.6 million voters voted for the Greens in 2010 reflecting the widespread support the party now enjoys.

Your ramblings are also disproportionately focused on policies dealing with Gay Marriage and Euthanasia, which are sensationalised by the media as they’re particularly divisive issues that cause people like yourself to get your panties in a knot. They’re not major party policies as you believe, but they are part of a wider policy platform concerning Human Rights. Maybe you’ve got a point though, worrying about something as stupid as Human Rights is just a waste of time.

Another divisive issue within your ramblings is that of forest clearing, but if you had bothered to research the issue your opinion may well be different. The Royal Commission attributes the Black Saturday and 70% of fatalities to faulty infrastructure such as power lines, which can blamed on the privatisation of Victoria’s electrical infrastructure. However media discussions about the privatisation of assets by Labour and Liberal governments rate poorly, it’s much easier to blame the disaster on the Greens so you and your pitch fork carrying chums can form a lynch mob.

Maybe your next post should explore how Australians whose media diet consists of A Current Affair, 60 minutes and AM Shock Jocks are manipulated by the media and misreporting. Maybe that’s why Bob Brown wants an investigation into the country’s media outlets? Nah, couldn’t be.
